This dress was originally inspired by the Tia Dalma costume from Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man’s chest in 2006. It was my first foray into reproduction style costuming and was quite a learning experience.
I could not find the peach fabrics the costume called for as the color seemed to be out of season, and on top of that I wasn’t really sure how it was assembled.
I started by finding what pictures I could and finding a pattern that I thought I could get to look pretty close. I found fabric that would complement me and still seemed appropriate as a secondary option. I tea dyed the vintage lace that I found and hand stitched all the trim onto the dress.
