Design 光 (hikari) meaning “light”
This Design was first made for Geek Outs Science Fiction themed fashion show in August of 2016.
For this piece, my inspiration came from Ridley Scott’s movie Bladerunner. The dark shadowy atmosphere of Los Angeles made me question what other cities might be like in this future, what resources would have been exhausted, and how we might replace them.

In 2017 I decided to enter the feminine design into the Costume Drama Fashion Show under the category of Light. I went back to the drawing board and reworked elements of the design including making a Obi and a headdress as well as a new under layer and adding many more lights. The make up was also changed to reflect this theme.

On Labor Day weekend of the same year the dress was entered into the Friday Night Costuming Contest at Dragon Con. The documentation process was intense and made me really think about the things I did. If you would like to glimpse that the link is below.

2018 Hikari is going to be part of the costuming exhibit at Dragon Con. It will be up over the duration of the weekend which is pretty exciting. I am taking a little look at the costume to see if it needs anything and am considering making a Inro for it.
